🐕 Hamish. It feels like most hours of my days since last July have been spent with Hamish (probably because they have). He’s 11 months old now, a full-on adolescent, and we spend 3 or 4 hours a day in the yard playing, rain or shine. He’s finished two basic obedience classes and one 6 week session of nose work. He’s maturing into a very good boy.
🖋️ Blogging. I’ve had a place to blog for maybe 20 years now. Blogger, Wordpress, Squarespace, micro.blog, Ghost - possibly more. But I’ve never written more than a handful of posts. Will this latest bout of excitement be different? I don’t know, but I really enjoy working in Bear Blog. There isn’t a lot of friction to writing and the amount of design tweaking I can do is minimal, which is critical to keeping my easily distracted mind on track. I need to write up a summary of all the options I looked at before choosing bear blog.
☕️ Coffee Roasting. I’ve been roasting on my Aillio Bullet for 4.5 years now and for the last year I feel like I really have it dialed in. Every now and then I’ll kick around the idea of selling my beans, but then I ask myself “why?”. What would I offer people that isn’t readily available? Is it worth the effort and money to upgrade to a bigger roaster? And do I want to tie myself to another business? I think it’s better as a hobby.
☀️ Solar Project. We’re installing a 12kW ground mounted solar system next to the house. When I say “we” I mean our contractor, PlugPV. We need to do a little work to clear the site and move a shrub or two, but otherwise we’re just waiting on permits and for the ground to thaw.
🪚 Kitchen Remodel. I hesitate to include this on my Now Page as the project has completely stalled. I always worried that once the new range was in and the coffee bar installed I’d lose interest, but I didn’t think I’d stop completely. Rather than continue to beat myself up about it, I’m slowly working back into it.
🏡 Spring Yard Cleanup. Yard work is one of my least favorite things to do, but Spring is almost here and we never really finished cleaning up the yard in the Fall - because it’s one of my least favorite things to do! It’s been warm enough a few days lately to get started, so here we go.
