🗓️ 2024-W03, Week Notes
✈️ The last of the kids headed back to school/work this week and we put the decorations away, making it truly the end of the holidays. Also making me feel lonely.
❄️ We had a couple of inches of snow and some very cold temperatures this week. The wood stove has been running continually.
☕️ We’re still working through the 2023 Polar Expresso, but with the kids drinking coffee now (a new development this year) we went through it faster than usual. We only have enough green coffee for 2 more 700 gram batches.
☕️ Also on the coffee front, I’ve finally gotten the Niche Zero dialed in. I estimate we’ve put 2.5 kilograms through it and it seems to be holding it’s calibration and giving consistent grinds.
🐕 Hamish starts nose work classes next week. We let him get too far off track with his behavior over the holidays. He was generally good and absolutely loved having the kids home, but needs to get back to a routine and some training.
☀️ We’re working to finalize the placement of our solar array and it seems that maybe the town wetlands maps are wrong. They show our neighbor’s house in the middle of pond/swamp (which it most definitely is not), putting our planned site within the jurisdiction of the wetlands commission. We have a few months before the ground thaws and the installation can start - hopefully that will be enough time to work it out with the town.
💻 Finally, I spent time this week thinking about blogging and where to host whatever it is I want to write. I’ve been waiting for Pika to add in some basic themes and custom domains. They haven’t announced either yet, but both things are showing up in my account. But tags and Markdown are still missing, and the way I imaging my workflow requires both, so I'm leaning towards Bear Blog.
